Another Match Racing triumph for Youth Champs

– and a 420 sailor on board, of course!

Tom Altmann was with Rob Gullan (reigning RYA National Youth Match Racing champions) at Queen Mary last weekend to win the qualifier and to ensure their place at the MR Nationals in October. Ben Ainsworth, Sam Maxfield and Maria Stanley, 420 sailors within recent memory, were in Robert Gullan’s team taking 3rd, Mary Rook, Nicky Macgregor and Bethan Carden, unforgetable queens of the Class from this century were 4=, with Andrew Mackay also 4= and Mark Lees close behind.

So where are the 420 match racers of the future? Many of the previous top match racers, current Olympic hopefuls and Olympic Medallists and Yachting Champions (you want a list?) started their match racing very early in 420 sailing careers. So have you got a team together for the Youths after the Nationals and (if you are female presumably) the Women’s?
