Good news from Scotland –
Last weekend was a double celebration
for Scots 420 sailors.
The Abrahams and the Airlies dominated the 420 Traveller at Loch Lomond –
Jennifer Abraham & Drew Airlie brought home the honours to Helensburgh SC, just over the hills from Loch Lomond SCs great Dinghy Weekend, and new man on
the 420-block, David Abraham, with experienced crew, Callum
Airlie were 2nd.
But there were more celebrations in Helensburgh and
Loch Lomond last week, especially in the 420 Clans Marsden & Macdonald.
Laurie Macdonald (nee Marsden) and Callum
Macdonald became the proud parents of Elle. Many 420 sailors know
Laurie and Callum as leading 420 coaches; Callum was the RYA UK National 420 Coach. Those who have
been around a year or two more, remember them as leading crews in the UK 420
Fleet.
Callum was bursting with pride at the Loch Lomond
event, but, by all accounts, this was almost surpassed by the enthusiasm
(invasion by?) of the Marsden and Macdonald grandparents, whose service to the
420 Class and the development of many of our sailors across the UK include
being a former Class Chairman and Safety Officer – both for several years – and
both as much loved and respected Worlds and Euros/Junior Euros Team Managers of
previous years. We congratulate both families. Elle’s name is already down
for Class Membership in around 2015!
