Crème indeed: 420 sailors lead

all three double-hander fleets on Day 1 at BUSA Nationals

Nia Jones & Sophie Knight (Exeter) led the Handicap Fleet after three races in winds of 3 -4 kn and beautiful sunshine at Plymouth on Saturday, with competition from veteran 420 sailor, James Thomas (Brunel) in 4th. 420 sailors dominated the top three in the RS Fleet, with Andy Shaw & Rosie Sibthorp (Southampton) 1st, Chris Tiernan & Rob Henderson (Southampton Solent) 2nd and Tom Brophy (Exeter), last seen at the 2010 EoS, in 3rd. And the Fireflies, had Jonny House & Maya Gill-Taylor (Plymouth) running first, with Piers Strong (Plymouth) 2nd and Matt Rainback (Exeter) in 4th. Let’s hope that the exertions of Bonfire Night have not undermined their stamina for Sunday, which has dawned beautiful once again.
